How to use Modafilin:

Use Modafilin as directed by your doctor. Check the label on Modafilin for exact dosing instructions.

Take Modafilin in the morning unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

Take Modafilin by mouth with or without food.

An extra patient leaflet is available with Modafilin. Talk to your doctor if you have questions about this information.

If you miss a dose of Modafilin, take it as soon as possible. If you do not remember until late afternoon or evening, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

How to use modafilin

Possible food and drug interactions when taking Modafilin

If Modafilin is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Modafilin with any of the following:
- Warfarin (Coumadin);
- Theophylline (Theo-Dur);
- Rifampin (Rifater);
- Propranolol (Inderal);
- Phenytoin (Dilantin);
- Phenobarbital;
- Oral contraceptives and hormonal implants;
- Methylphenidate (Ritalin);
- MAO inhibitors (Nardil and Parnate);
- Ketoconazole (Nizoral);
- Itraconazole (Sporanox);
- Diazepam (Valium);
- Cyclosporine (Sandimmune);
- Clomipramine (Anafranil);
- Carbamazepine (Tegretol);
- Antidepressants (Effexor, Elavil, Pamelor, Paxil, Prozac and Tofranil);

The effect of combining Modafilin with alcohol has not been studied. It's considered wise to avoid alcohol while taking the drug.

Modafilin interaction

Modafilin and Pregnancy. Modafilin and Nursing mothers.

Certain Modafilin should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, other medicines may be safely used in pregnancy or breastfeeding providing the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the unborn baby. Always inform your pharmacist if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, before using Modafilin.

It is not known if Modafilin passes into breast milk. It should not be used during breastfeeding. Seek medical advice from your pharmacist.

The safety of Modafilin during pregnancy has not been established. Because Modafilin may be harmful to a developing baby, it should not be used during pregnancy. Women who could get pregnant should use a reliable contraceptive method to prevent pregnancy while using this medicine. Contraception should be continued for two months after stopping treatment. factsheet. You should discuss contraceptive methods with your doctor before starting treatment.

Modafilin and pregnancy
